After nearly 2 days of excited and enthusiastic competition, the Marathon - Ca Mau 2024 PETROVIETNAM Cup (running tournament) is directed by the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province in coordination with Vietrace365 Joint Stock Company, and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PETROVIETNAM) as brand sponsor has officially ended and was a great success.
 

The marathon aims to promote and introduce the image of Ca Mau land and people to a large number of people inside and outside the province.

This year is the third year the race has been held with the theme “Ca Mau Rendezvous”, attracting thousands of athletes and enthusiastic support from the public. Through this event, it aims to spread the spirit of physical training and sports and create a highlight to introduce and promote the image of the land and people of Ca Mau to a large number of domestic and international tourists.

On November 9-10, 2024, thousands of athletes from the whole country gathered in Ca Mau city to participate in the Marathon - Ca Mau 2024 PETROVIETNAM Cup. This year, the number of athletes participating is higher than previous years, with 6,000 athletes participating in distances of 42km, 21km, 10km, 5km and distances of 1.2km and 2.4km for young athletes from 6 to 15 years old. This year's tournament attracted many professional, amateur and disabled athletes to participate in the tournament and received enthusiastic support from fans.

Mr. Tran Quang Dung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, said: “Over the years, the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group has been honored to be the brand sponsor for the race, with the units of Ca Mau Petroleum Fertilizer Joint Stock Company; Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation and Vietnam Gas Corporation as the diamond sponsors for the race. This not only contributes to spreading the spirit of physical exercise and sports, improving the physical health and spirit of the people as well as the athletes participating in the race, but also promotes the brand image of Ca Mau province to a large number of domestic and international tourists”.

From 3:30 a.m. on November 10, 2024, professional and amateur athletes were present early to warm up and prepare to enter the race to compete in the distances of 42km, 21km, 10km, 5km. Although the weather in the morning was rainy, it did not affect the athletes' running route much. All athletes were eager and excited to conquer the running routes passing through Ca Mau city.

As the first female athlete to finish the distance of 21km, Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Hanh from Ho Chi Minh City, said: “I am very happy to participate in the running race in Ca Mau - the southernmost place of the country. I find it very beautiful and the climate is warm, the people here are also very gentle, sincere and hospitable. I am even more excited when I have conquered and completed the distance of 21km. If I have the opportunity, I really want to return to Ca Mau to participate in the race in the following years”.

Mr. Dang Anh Tuan, an athlete from Quang Ngai province, said: “This is the third year I have participated in the marathon is organized by Ca Mau province. Every time, I feel very nervous, eager and excited. Although it rained this morning, the weather was quite cool, the routes were also arranged appropriately so that athletes feel comfortable to complete their run. I find Ca Mau people very cute and enthusiastic, the scenery here is also very beautiful, if I have the chance, my friends and I will come to Ca Mau to visit and travel in the near future”.

In order to facilitate the athletes participating in the race, the Organizing Committee has arranged stations for water, electrolytes, fruits; cooling points, etc. with medical staff to promptly support athletes to cool down, massage and relax after completing the race. The medical team is ready to provide first aid and support in emergency cases. In addition, traffic police and volunteers are present early to arrange traffic flow and provide maximum support for athletes to complete their race.

This year's race is not only a sporting event, but also spreads the meaning to promote the image of the land and people of Ca Mau, gentle, honest, loyal and hospitable. Ca Mau is striving strongly to develop integration, expand exchanges and cooperation, so this race is an opportunity to promote domestic and international organizations, investors, tourism experts, travel companies to survey and learn about the potential, advantages and investment policies of the province, especially in the tourism sector.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the race Organizing Committee, emphasized: The marathon is an activity that Ca Mau province has organized regularly in recent years. This year, the race is even more meaningful because it is part of the series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Northward rally (1954 - 2024). Through the race, the Organizing Committee conveys the message “Ca Mau is a safe destination, a place with amazing natural landscapes, fresh climate, a land with gentle, honest, loyal, and hospitable people”. Through the race, the aim is to create a vibrant sports movement, ensure safety, and create a beautiful image of “Ca Mau Rendezvous” in the hearts of tourists.
