National Committee for the advancement of women inspects work in Ca Mau province.

In recent times, the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have paid significant attention to directing and issuing many documents to implement activities for the advancement of women and gender equality. As a result, departments, branches, and localities have developed plans to integrate the work of advancing women and gender equality into their programs and plans in line with the realities of each unit. There has been active attention to supporting activities aimed at improving the material and spiritual life of women, especially those in difficult circumstances. Efforts have been made to create conditions for women to participate in political, economic, and social fields.

Efforts to plan, allocate, and train female officials, civil servants, and public employees have been a focus. Timely detection and training of professional skills have been implemented to incorporate women into the leadership and management roles at agencies, units, and localities. As of July 1, 2024, the province has 25,548 officials, civil servants, and public employees, of which 13,282 are women, accounting for 51.9%. Now, female cadres participating in the Provincial Party Committee (12/62) account for 19.35%; female deputies in the National Assembly and Provincial People’s Council reach 36%; and women in key leadership positions at agencies and units make up 30% or more.

However, the work for the advancement of women faces several challenges. These include frequent staff turnover in gender equality positions, with many of the personnel also handling multiple tasks, resulting in limited effectiveness of gender equality activities in certain units and localities. In addition, the resources allocated for gender equality work remain limited, especially at the grassroots level, making it difficult to implement activities effectively and meet the required tasks.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan (standing), Vice-Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, speaks at the inspection session.

Speaking at the inspection session, Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice-Chairman of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the provincial leadership is very committed to the work of advancing women and gender equality, which has resulted in encouraging achievements. To enhance the effectiveness of efforts for women's advancement, particularly gender equality, in the coming time, Ca Mau province will focus on improving the legal framework and policies for women's development, especially for young girls. The province will also strengthen legal awareness campaigns within the political system and society regarding the role of women. Additionally, the focus will be on developing economic models and entrepreneurship projects led by women to help empower them.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, congratulated and highly appreciated the efforts of Ca Mau province in the work for the advancement of women and gender equality. She recommended that in the future, Ca Mau should strengthen advocacy efforts, diversify forms of communication, and tailor them to specific audiences to raise the role of women. It was also suggested that the province fully implement central government directives related to women's rights and gender equality, develop strategic solutions for the advancement of women at each stage of the province’s development, focus on planning and utilizing young female officials in women's organizations and the Youth Union, and establish mechanisms for providing information and proposing policies related to the advancement of women.
