The approval of a management plan for the Ca Mau Marine Protected Area for the 2025 - 2030 Period
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province has just signed a decision approving a management plan for the Ca Mau Marine Protected Area for the 2025 - 2030 period.

Hon Khoai Island Cluster is one of the marine protected areas in Ca Mau province.
The general objective of the plan is to manage, protect, and conserve aquatic resources, marine species, endangered species at risk of extinction, and species with economic and scientific value within the protected area; safeguard the environment and ecosystems, and natural landscapes associated with sustainable ecotourism development; improve the livelihoods of local fishing communities, and contribute to the development of the marine economy.
The specific objectives are to maintain the functioning of ecosystems and the quality of habitats for wildlife; increase population replenishment of species living around the marine conservation area; and minimize or eliminate impacts that degrade environmental quality, ecosystem structure, biodiversity, fishery resources, and natural resources.
Protect, restore and develop populations of endemic, rare species of conservation value: Yellow-tailed lizard (Cnemaspis psychedelica), Hon Khoai squirrel (Callosciurus honkhoiensis), Nicobar pigeon (Caloenas nicobarica), white-bellied sea eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster), Tree gecko (Acropora spp.), rock lobster (Panulirus homarus), giant clam (Atrina vexillum), pink-lipped oyster (Pteria penguin), so on.
Mobilize 100% of businesses, fishing communities in localities with eco-tourism activities, aquaculture, etc., in the marine protected area to sign commitments to participate in the conservation of natural resources, biodiversity protection, environmental preservation, and sustainable development.
Enhancing the capacity of officials and local communities in marine conservation work. Improving and raising the living standards of communities living in and around the marine protected areas.
The estimated total funding required for the implementation of the management plan for the Ca Mau marine protected area during the 2025 - 2030 period is approximately VND 279 billion.
