The total output of fishing and aquaculture in 2021 was estimated at 613,700 tons, reached 99% of the plan, up 3.6% compared to the same period. In particular, shrimp production is estimated at 218,400 tons, reached 97.1% of the plan, up 4% compared to the same period. Seafood export turnover in 2021 reached 1,028 million USD.
The area of aquaculture in 2021 reached 302,635 ha, and shrimp farming alone reached 279,648 ha, with many types of farming such as intensive farming, super-intensive farming, cultivation, improved cultivation, shrimp-rice, shrimp-forest, shrimp farming in combination with other subjects such as crabs, scallops, etc.; mainly shrimp, prawns, and white shrimp. Therefore, the area of shrimp extensive farming combined with the whole province is 109,295 ha. The area of improved extensive farming shrimp farming is 162,425 ha, 1.52% more than planned, an increase of 6.82% compared to the same period. Intensive and super-intensive shrimp farming is over 7,927 ha/11,555 households, reaching 90.08% of the plan, equal to 92.92% of the same period; in which, super-intensive shrimp farming is over 3,682 ha/3,712 households, exceeding 15.08% of the plan, increasing by 25.16% compared to the same period, the productivity reaches 40 - 50 tons/ha/crop (calculated on the surface area of the pond); Intensive shrimp farming is over 4,244 ha/7,843 households, with an average yield of 5 tons/ha/year (prawns) and 8 tons/ha/year (white-leg shrimp).

The whole province has over 30 enterprises with 38 shrimp export processing factories equipped with advanced and modern technologies; the processing capacity is over 250,000 tons of raw shrimp/per year.
In 2021, aquaculture production reached 383,700 tons, 98.4% of the plan, an increase of 8.1% over the same period; Of which, shrimp production reached 208,400 tons, 96.9% over the plan, an increase of 4.1% over the same period. The production of seafood production reached 230,000 tons, reaching 100% compared to the plan, equal to 96.8% compared to the same period.
The province has a total of 3,929 fishing vessels registered with a total capacity of 613,898KW; 100% of cruise monitoring equipment has been installed.
In the province, there are 523 shrimp production facilities and over 300 shrimp breeding facilities. For the most part, small-scale producers and shrimp farms like Ca Mau province. The annual production of shrimp is about 12 billion units, meeting 50% of the needs of breeders; Up to now, the quality of shrimp breeds has been raised above 60%, this helps breeders achieve good efficiency, contributing to improving the efficiency of shrimp farming in the province.

Aquaculture production has brought economic benefits for the province, contributed to change economic structure, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, improve material life for farmers in the coastal and rural areas, provide raw materials for enterprises processing and exporting aquatic products which contributed to bring about hundreds of millions of dollars for the province each year, making Ca Mau province with the highest aquaculture export turnover in the country and improving foreign currency revenues for the country.
