Ceremony to support equipment for the “Water is life” project
On the morning of November 5, 2024, the Women's Union of Ca Mau province and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Vietnam co-organized a ceremony to support water storage, water filtration and water-saving irrigation equipment for women in Ca Mau province (under the “Water is life” project).

The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in Vietnam presented symbolic plaques of water filtration, water storage and irrigation water saving devices to 620 women in Ca Mau province.
At the ceremony, UN Women in Vietnam provided support for water filtration, water storage and irrigation water saving equipment to 620 women, 04 schools and medical stations in the 02 districts of Tran Van Thoi and Dam Doi to benefit from the “Water is life” project.
The “Water is life” project according to Decision No. 1305/QD-UBND dated July 2, 2024 of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province on approving the non-refundable aid funded by UN Women. The total cost of the project is VND 4,670,810,000 (equivalent to USD 183,500), implemented in 04 communes: Khanh Binh Tay, Khanh Binh Tay Bac (Tran Van Thoi district); Tran Phan, Quach Pham Bac (Dam Doi district). Implementation period is from July 2, 2024 to February 28, 2025.
The project aims to ensure sustainable livelihoods, improve access to clean water and sanitation, reduce social risks, especially for vulnerable women and girls, thereby enhancing human security and resilience in the face of environmental challenges. This includes supporting the improvement of livelihoods and food security through empowering women in agricultural production to adapt to climate change; improving access to water and sanitation for women and households to protect women's health; addressing gender-based violence; technical cooperation and capacity building; and creating temporary work opportunities.
