The scientific conference titled “200 Days of Northern Gathering in Ca Mau - Strategic vision and historical value”
In the framework of activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Northern Gathering (1954-2024), on the afternoon of November 15, 2024, a scientific conference titled “200 Days of Northern Gathering in Ca Mau - Strategic vision and historical value” was held. The conference was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ms. Dinh Thi Mai, Dinh Thi Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Mr. Nguyen Duc Hien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Thanh Trieu, Director of the Provincial Mass Mobilization Department and Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee in province; Mr. Ho Trung Viet, Director of the Provincial Propaganda Department. Attending the conference were: Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, former member of the Political Bureau and former Deputy Prime Minister in charge of regular government affairs, a former southern student who gathered in the North; about 350 delegates including leaders and former leaders at central and local levels; Representatives from propaganda departments at central and local levels; Former leaders from provinces and cities in southern Vietnam; Leaders from past terms of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front; Eyewitnesses to history, Family members with direct involvement in gathering in northern Vietnam, Experts and scientists.

The seminar aims to discuss, clarify and affirm the correct and visionary leadership of the Central Party and Chairman Ho Chi Minh; highlight the scale and historical significance of the 200 Days of Northern Gathering event in Ca Mau province. Through this, it aims to propagate and educate revolutionary ethics for Party members, cadres, and people across the country, especially the people and young generation of Ca Mau province in learning and upholding patriotic spirit, self-sacrifice for the Party's and nation's revolutionary cause, believing in the Party's leadership in the cause of building and defending Vietnam's socialist Fatherland today. At the same time, it aims to honor the great contributions and innovations of Ca Mau province's Party organization, people, and army that have contributed to organizing a successful 200 Days of Northern Gathering event.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, said: “70 years have passed, but the event of moving north in 1954 still retains its historical value. It is a lesson in national unity spirit and determination of the people and army for a great revolutionary cause. This contributes to further highlighting the glorious revolutionary tradition of our Party and the historical tradition of Ca Mau province's Party organization, people and army in the struggle for national liberation and unification. It also provides motivation for future generations in the process of building and developing the country in general and Ca Mau province in particular”.
The seminar presented discussions on the strategic vision of the Communist Party concerning the event of gathering forces in the North to prepare for the national reunification struggle. It highlighted the role of Comrade Le Duan, the former General Secretary of the Central Committee, in this context, and the deep affection of Thanh Hoa province extended to the cadres, soldiers, and students from the South who gathered in the North in 1954. Additionally, it addressed the security and military confidentiality measures taken during the 200 days of Northern Gathering event. period in Ca Mau. The event received 42 scholarly contributions from various organizations and individuals, each showcasing thorough research and diverse perspectives. Collectively, these papers affirm the wise and correct policies of the Party, the Government, and President Ho Chi Minh regarding this historical event.

To promote the results of the seminar, Ms. Dinh Thi Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, suggested that the organizing committee and media agencies intensify the dissemination of the seminar's results to a wide range of officials, party members, and the general public through various diverse and rich forms, especially via press and social media channels. It is essential to translate theoretical issues from the seminar's research into practical applications, particularly in the context of the current industrialization and modernization efforts and the situation of the country. This will contribute to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the XIII National Congress of the Communist Party and the XVI Congress of the Ca Mau Provincial Party for the 2020 - 2025 term.
