Cai Nuoc district located in the Southern of Ca Mau province, far from the center 30km. The natural area is 417,00km2, accounting for 7,88% of the provincial area. Geographical location of the district from 8.50 to 9.10 North latitude and from 104.56 to 105.10 East longitude. The North adjacent to Ca Mau city, Nam Can district to the South, Phu Tan and Tran Van Thoi districts to the West, Dam Doi district to the East.

The district has 11 administrtive units, including Cai Nuoc town and communes: Luong The Tran, Thanh Phu, Phu Hung, Hung My, Tan Hung, Hoa My, Tan Hung Dong, Dong Thoi, Dong Hung and Tran Thoi.
By 2019, the population has 34,740 households, with 136,638 people, accounting for 11,38% of the province’s population. In which, 69,136 are male and 67,502 are female; 135,623 Kinh people and 1,015 other people.
In urban areas, there are 3,915 households, with 14,482 people. In rural areas, there are 30,825 households, with 122,156 people.

The economic structure of the district is fishing - agriculture, services - trade, industry - construction. The district has many potential advantages in terms of land, rich labor resources, materials from aquaculture, agricultural goods and food. This district has Hoa Trung Industrial Park with many factories, large-scale enterprises which are put into operation.
Cai Nuoc district is located on National Highway 1 from Can Tho to Ca Mau Cape, and there are many large rivers such as Bay Hap, Doi Cuong canal runs across the river, the traffic is very convenient, economic - social development.
